Public cloud entails services used via a network that is open for public use. It is mainly based on the per use payment model with the service most commonly using automated methods of payment (e.g. credit cards). There are no technical differences between private and public cloud architecture, but the automation of services is what clearly separates them. Public cloud is a basic service with less support from professional vendor staff. Users are expected to establish most of their configurations and manage the solution by themselves, through automated interfaces. Therefore, public cloud implementations are typically simpler and smaller in scale than their private counterparts.
